The Binakol festival is held from April 30 to May 1 in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte province. The Binakol name derives from a woven cloth known in the town as Binakol. During the Binakol festival, there will be a parade of authentic, antique, and trendy Binakol designs, as well as a pageant for Ms. Binakol festivals and other competitions such as folk dance to recall our very own traditional dances.

Having a Binakol fabric design is old and designed to be dizzying. Traditionally, blankets of this style were created by the Itneg tribe of Northern Luzon of the Philippines. They thought that demonic spirits flew away from above and preyed on sleeping souls. They thought that the whirling patterns on the blankets would confuse and divert the bad spirits. This was a source of income for natives in Ilocos, as well as one of the fabrics used by other notable Pilipino designers, as a proud product of Ilocanos.
